Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Is Inspiration, As Strategies Shift
Depending on Where You Are and
Where You’d Like to Be:

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

1)When starting at the base of the pyramid, strategies are simplistic but powerful as clients invest in their financial education. This is a less dynamic space and represents the building blocks which optimize higher level strategies. Consider this the foundation of your skyscraper. We help clients cover the fundamentals and join in as they execute the plan which results in responsible wealth-building over the long run.

2)The middle stages of the pyramid often involve the mid-cycle of life: career progressions, more education, starting families, buying homes or second homes, taking care of aging parents or funding children’s education. When the foundation of the pyramid has been managed well, additional strategies are available to continue to address needs and goals. In this stage, there is tension between current and long-term needs – navigating these priorities thoughtfully is must.

3)The top of the pyramid decisions incorporate more sophisticated strategies which could look like: plans to retire from an executive role or to sell a private company, plans to activate a retirement from a corporate job, orchestrating a mini-retirement mid-career to pursue the work of your dreams, updating your estate plan, contemplating trusts or charitable giving plans, or learning to navigate a sizable inheritance or settlement. In this phase, money is enough – so we ask what is the life you want to live and how will you leave a legacy?

How we work

We are a fee-only advisor; most often we receive compensation for assets under management or advisement. For clients who have not yet accrued significant assets (but aspire to) we offer a tiered retainer that fits their age/income and planning needs – and could include a blended retainer/asset fee combination.

We do not sell products; we are not transaction oriented. Our best hope is to establish long-term, fruitful and close working relationships with our clients.  Before we engage, we work to make sure we are the best fit for any client, as defining “success” the same way (and being on the same page at every turn) is integral.
